Bristol Festival of Puppetry (BFP) is the biennial celebration of all things animated on stage and screen. This 10 day international event showcases the very best in cutting edge puppetry from Bristol, the UK and around the world. It has become a much-loved fixture in the city’s cultural calendar.

BFP offers a bold and eclectic programme that encompasses film and performance, the traditional and experimental, featuring puppet creations of all sizes and a huge diversity of styles and techniques. For the enquiring mind we create opportunities for professional practitioners and enthusiasts to engage in debate, networking, masterclasses and more. We keep ticket prices as low as possible and have an extensive programme of free shows and activities. Look out for the Carnival, Artists Breakfasts, exhibitions, outdoor performances and the ever-popular Smoking Puppet Cabaret.

BFP is produced by  Puppet Place, your hub for all things animated on stage and film in the UK. We are dedicated to sharing our passion for puppetry and animation with the wider public and supporting artists and professionals working with these artforms. Our building, on Bristol’s Harbourside, is home to a community of resident companies and artists producing brilliant work in puppetry, animation and the creative sector more widely. We support the greater puppetry and creative sector through residencies, networking and training.
