Get the Blessing present Bristopolis to open Jazz and Blues Festival

08 March 2018

The 2018 Bristol Jazz and Blues Festival will launch with an unmissable event for the city’s film and music fans – Bristopolis.

On Thursday, March 15th there will be the premiere of a new collaboration between Bristol’s most celebrated jazz quartet Get the Blessing and filmmaker John Minton.

Minton will take the audience on a journey through 100 years of Bristol using Create Bristol’s archive film footage, which will be projected onto a huge screen in the main auditorium of the Colston Hall.

Using a mixture of amateur and professional footage, Minton has created a fascinating filmic collage featuring shots of famous landmarks, glimpses into the pre-war city, the docks in their industrial heyday, Jubilee street parties and more.

Driving the film will be the most incredible soundtrack, created especially for it and performed live by a band that blends the rhythm section of Portishead with two of Bristol’s most talented improvisers.

For tickets and more information see the event website.
