Upfest is taking a break in 2019 – for up to date info see https://www.upfest.co.uk/news/upfest-2019-announcement
Upfest began as a small group of artists battling chilly October winds in 2008 to paint in the Tobacco Factory. From those humble beginnings it has grown to become Europe’s leading street art festival.
Every July hundreds of the best street artists from across the world come to South Bristol to create colourful murals on the walls and hoardings of Bedminster, Southville and Ashton.
Tens of thousands of visitors come to see the artists paint live, and then Upfest leaves a year-long legacy in BS3 as the art remains for locals and visitors to enjoy for 12 months until the next festival comes round again.
In line with the event’s profile and visitor numbers, the footprint of Upfest has grown and in 2017 and 2018 Bristol’s biggest sporting venue Ashton Gate became part of the festival.
