As the name suggests, Vegfest is a festival for veggies. It combines a substantial mix of vegetarian and vegan food with a decent programme of live music – mostly older, established acts supported by smaller bands.
This year’s event is an original house party on the Saturday and a reggae sunsplash on the Sunday. Marshall Jefferson headlines the Saturday house party supported by live sets from Alison Limerick (whose chart hits include the classic Where Love Lives) and Adamski (who scores an unforgettable no. 1 with Killer in 1990). And on Sunday, vegan reggae artist Macka B headlines the Main Stage with support local artist in the shape of Andy Compton featuring Celestine and Sabrina Chyld.
The festival also features all-day lineups from local acoustic acts on 2 stages as well as its usual repertoire of 180 stalls, 15 caterers, bars, juice bars, and vendors, as well as umpteen talks on nutrition, health, lifestyle, campaigns, plus cookery demos and the benefits of the vegan philosophy.
