The Bristol Shakespeare festival was founded in 2003, and since then has been bringing the freshest, most exciting productions of Shakespeare’s plays to some of Bristol’s most beautiful and unusual spaces every summer during the months of June and July.
This year’s festival will involve the biggest programme to date. Featuring spoken word, circus, open-air theatre and more! There is something for all ages and all tastes.
Hamlet the musical will be being retold with cheeky irreverence and boundless energy through genius rewrites of modern hits – including classics by Queen, Britney Spears, ABBA and Elvis Presley! Over at Brandon Hill Bowling Green, festival favourites The Lord Chamberlain’s Men will be delighting audiences with their beloved all-male production of Midsummer’s Night Dream. This supernatural comedy of mischievous fairies, confused lovers and rude mechanicals is an intoxicating tale of clarity found from chaos as tangled love gives way to happily ever after.
These are just a few snippets, there’s a huge programme to enjoy. For full details see the official Bristol Shakespeare Festival website.
