With a new name but bringing the same in world-class American music, River Town 2017 will take place at the Colston Hall later this month.
After American music royalty Carleen Anderson kicked things off with a launch party in St George’s back in May, the full festival experience will be upon us soon.
This is the third time an Americana music festival has taken place in the city and the programme features blues. gospel, country and bluegrass from across the Atlantic but also closer to home.
A highlight is sure to be a rare appearance by three UK stars – Paul Carrack, Nick Lowe and Andy Fairweather Low – who will get together to celebrate their shared love of America R&B, soul and country.
Singer songwriter Martha Wainwright, civil rights icon and R&B and gospel powerhouse Mavis Staples will also play at River Town 2017 along with country-pop do The Shires and crossover stars Ward Thomas.
