Circus City is the UK’s biggest festival of contemporary circus. Returning on October 17th-November 2nd 2019 in 8 different Bristol venues, including new editions Unit 51, a warehouse space in St.Philips, and Emerson Green Village Hall. The festival will present 15 international shows that blend circus skills with film, theatre, hip hop, dance and more, with performances available for all ages.
Festival director Kate Hartoch says: “Circus City 2019 will offer shows from all over the globe: from suggestive satire for adults to interactive play for children; from social comment (with juggling) to activism and from audacious aerial acrobatics to risky ropework. Look out especially for a Finnish world premiere; exceptional work from an Australian Paralympian, acoustic and visual surprises from Belgium and clever blendings of circus with other art forms, both from established and emerging UK companies. Our hope is that there is something for everyone and that audiences will take a risk and jump right in.”
A choice of workshops, masterclasses, talks and discussions will soon be added to the Circus City programme so keep up to date with the Circus City website and social media to be the first to hear about these.
