The Bristol Festival of Ideas aims to stimulate people’s minds and passions with an inspiring programme of discussion and debate throughout the year. The Bristol Festival of Ideas is an initiative of Bristol Cultural Development Partnership (Bristol City Council and BusinessWest), an Arts Council England national portfolio organisation., with a spring programme (Mar-June) and an autumn programme (Sep-Nov) as well as special one off events at other times.
Among this year’s speakers are:
Ian Morris – Foragers, Farmers and Fossil Fuels looks at humans’ historical relationship with energy and how it effects everything, taking place at the Peel Lecture Theatre on March 16.
David Rieff – US author with a strong focus on policy and humanitarian issues, discussing historical memory and whether it’s better for us to forget the mistakes of the past; taking place at Watershed on March 23.
Kate Tempest – Mercury Award-nominated musician, poet and novelist talking about her debut book ‘The Bricks That Built The Houses’, taking place at At-Bristol on April 12.
