Afrika Eye is Bristol’s annual film and arts festival and the South West’s biggest celebration of African visual culture.
Founded in 2005 by two Bristol-based filmmakers, Zimbabwe-born Simon Bright and Ingrid Sinclair who lived and worked in southern Africa for nearly 20 years, it is now run by Annie Menter and Jessica Zausmer.
Its mission remains the same: to offer audiences of all ages and backgrounds opportunities to explore the richness of African creativity, culture and history, using film and arts to challenge stereotypes, dispel myths and explore the traditions and transformations across this vast continent.
Afrika Eye are currently planning their 2019 week long festival with events taking place in a number of community venues and involving a range of community partners from the 4th November, with a flagship film event over the weekend of the 8th, 9th and 10th at Watershed.
